I have had this Hobo for about 25years. It was a gift. At the time I was a collector of Emmitt Kelly Jr. and have always believed that this was him. Now I am being told by a friend of mine that he might be Mr. Beau Jangles. Can anyone tell "who is he " ? Also, on the back of his neck it says Paul and below that are the numbers600/503

It is a artist doll creation in numbered limited edition . I would say Emmett or just a clown artist created . Bill "Bojangles" Robinson Was Born May 25, 1878 in Richmond, Virginia, Robinson invented a new way to tap, transforming it from a flat-footed dance to a style that pushed the performer to his toes. . He also was of color .

Red's character was "Freddy the Freeloader"

@ Mani, "Freddy" always had a cigar. I agree with both you and Phil on your call, the feature's look like Red, the only thing that doesn't fit his character, is the hat, Freddy always wore a Top Hat.

My first comment on a artists creation is probably more correct . He or she made a character based maybe on parts of images in their head . So did they make Red with a top hat as his Hobo image or add their own vision. These types of dolls were popular in 1980's the limited edition dolls that almost promised you would make money as a collector iten/doll and as we know many jumped on the band wagaon . Many artists such as "Paul" which is marked on Hobo /clown maybe it Ernest Borgnine too ?????????? Met his wife and her perfume line is wonderful she smelled glorious .
He came here every year as Dressed as a Clown As Grand Marshall of the parade . Not sure if he smoked cigars so Red seems mmore likely or it is nobody just a Hobo :-)

Okay, I'll agree with that also Mani, you've always been spot on when it comes to these sorta item. I'm sure one of your calls on something along this order would be a close as anyone would ever get. :-)

LOL Kerry I am no expert on Clown /Hobo's . Your guess is as good as mine you have lots of character watches so would more likely know . He really is not a doll . I am willing to go with what you and Phil think I am merely guessing on him :-)
