My Grandmother left us this clock. We have been trying to find info about the clock for awhile what we know is it's a Ansonia Clock Co. New York it has a date of stamped like this PATENTED then A in a square & a diamond around that June 14, 81 then to the left its stamped PATENTED
JUNE 18,1882. We we're wondering about the two dates & patents. If anyone can help us find anything more about this clock we would appreciate it.

Actually, this one was called the "Bard". Ansonia offered three clocks with this musician statuette; Troubadour (listed for $38.50) , Minstrel (Original list $49.50) and Bard (Original listed for $55.00). The main difference was in just how ornate the base and clock towers are. These three clocks were from circa 1894 and so your grandmother's "Bard" cost the equivalent of $1437.16 (in 2012 dollars). They've held their original value very well. One sold at auction in October 2011 for $1,650

Hope that answers your questions. If not, ask away. If so, please indicate "Mystery Solved" in your listing. Beautiful clock. Thanks for sharing it.
