My aunt just picked this item up at an estate sale and none of us can figure out exactly what it is. It looks like an antique oil lamp. The stamps on the side of the glass say Pat'nd March 1880.

Don't have a clue but I like it
This is an Alcohol Lamp that was used by Jewelers and other similar trades. It sat in a cup-like holder and dates late 1800's-early 1900's. RER (LOUMANAL)

I would think that Lamp collectors, bottle collectors would be willing to pay from $30 to $60 for it. RER (LOUMANAL)
It is missing a metal base that would look sort of like an egg cup that it could sit in and tilt one way on another. Hard to use it without the base.
