I just found this same watch on ebay n they claim its antique Victorian guilt Masonic Pocket watch freemasons knights Templar circa 1890 can anyone please solve this mistery I know it is a repro from the original gold one but from what year n maker
It would be helpful , if you open the back at the hinge and show the movement. I've seen a couple of these, but they were "Gold" casing and time frame in the 1930's. Still very neat piece and thanks for sharing yours.
Just guessing, without any reference to the movement, but the ones seen, were a 15 Jewel Elgin movement.
This looks like a repro? Are you sure it's old?
Michael
This is a real one that I posted a few months ago. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/73941-masonic-silver-triangular-pocket-watch-c

Zuan 17 is a Chinesse made watch movement, I'll see if I can locate an approx date when these style movement were made, The ones I've run across date in the 1980's and 90's and are a very effecent movement.
Here is a link to another forum, that shows this movement in a wristwatch .
These triangle "Mason" watches date from the 1920's and 30's and held several different company movements, but a educated guess, leads me to believe it is a repoduction of the earlier one. I believe a Zuan movement wouldn't be one of the original. I've been wrong before, but that's my opinion. Sorry
"Zuan" isn't a movement name. Zuan is Chinese for Jewel.
17 Zuan means nothing more than 17 Jewels in the movement.
Still means "Chinese" movement any way you look at it. And none of the ORIGINAL piece had a late 20th century style movement.
That right, it is a cheap Chinese movement that is used in many cheap Chinese modern watches. I have one myself. It keeps very good time though.
I agree, some of these movements have a reserve time of around 60 hours, that's a long running watch. I have a couple and the hold very close time, no complaint there. My point was that this piece here appears to be a repoduction of the original.
@ tempusfigit, I seen you comment on several timepieces and read your for Europe. I have posted a 8-Day clock with a "Crown" marking on the dial, would you know the maker of this German made piece?
@kerry10456, it could be a Haller or Hermle clock. I think they are called anniversaire clock in English. They run a very, very long time on one winding. They are not very accurate and tuning them is almost impossible. I have one that I tried to run accurate, but I gave up. I leave it as it is now. At least something is moving and that's cute.
Thank you tempusfigit for the info, I'll research that name now, gives me a spot to start. thanks again
