My Four Antique Effanbee Baby Grumpy Dolls

I just love antique composition dolls and when I found an Effanbee Baby Grumpy on Ebay a couple of years ago, I had to buy him. That led to the eventual acquisition of three more (but I'm stopping at four!)

The three white Baby Grumpies are all 14 inches tall and and are early "Deco" dolls dating from about 1912. The black Baby Snowball (which is what Effanbee labeled him---I don't know where it originated, but I'm thinking maybe from an African American comic strip character popular in the 1910s) is marked 176 and dates from, I think, about 1915.

All the dolls have cloth bodies and legs and their compo and paint is all-original. They have not been re-touched.
