My childhood rocking chair

I was given this lovely rocking chair at approximately 5yrs of age by a friend of my family in approx 1969, who's daughter had outgrown it, my Dad recovered it at the time but when I left home I stripped it and stained it, it's been stuck in a cupboard for 30 yrs, It has wooden pegs that hold parts of it together.
I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any history on this type of chair please.
