Boy was this one a surprise. Won this at auction for a very very good price. I overlooked the fact that it was a 9" spoon, and was totally expecting to get a little teaspoon. Well, it arrived the other day, not only 9 inches but a solid 50 grams. For people who know a lot about coin silver spoons, they are not easy to use. They bend very very easily, and the only thing you can eat safely is soup. Not this one, this now has a nickname in my collection, "The Tank." The person who made thins clearly knew what he/she was doing. Obviously, because it was made by J. Gorham:

    Providence, RI 1850-1852
    John Gorham and Gorham Thurber

I am guessing this is a family member if not the single famous Gorham. Very happy to have this, enjoy!
