This table has been in family a long time. I demanded it from my mother in 1980! She painted it white and was going to use it as picnic table. She had bought a table and chairs that looked like Star Trek made in Dallas Texas, ( I have this in garage and use it outside on patio in summer!) I stripped off the white paint and use it now. The chairs are old, but I got them at a sale at a mobile home park after an older lady passed away. I do not know who made it but a lot of beautiful oak was made back then. I use to think it was a cheap table because of veneer, but now I realize quarter saw oak is special! Thanks for looking! Don
Pretty oak-- it is funny how many times I have seen equally beautiful wood covered in paint as styles change.
Your efforts really paid off-- beautiful table!

Thank you!
Beautiful, table glad you brought it back to it's former glory. Cleaning the rope motif must have been a chore.
Don what part are you referring to being veneer?
I think the top of the table is veneer?
In picture #4 you can clearly see the end grain of the boards, if they match the grain lines on the surface it is solid wood. The transition lines between boards should match on the ends as well as the surface.

Thanks David I will study this! Don
It is 1/4 saw oak veneer, see photo of mirror I added it is 1/4 saw oak also Don
I'm not questioning that it is quarter sawn oak, just whether it is a veneer surface. Can you clearly see the line between the veneer & the underlying boards?
Respectfully, David
I will take a photo for you! about 1 hour I will post! Hey thanks I want to know also!! Don
Vaneer! Yes?
Yes, a nice thick veneer though.
Thanks David, I read a good 1/4 saw oak vaneer increases value! thanks again!
Most welcome sir!
Thank you!
beautiful table; glad you were able to remove the paint and restore the beauty of this piece. I've added my table and hope you will take a look at it.
