My question is, that the serial # off the movement or the case. and to determine if gold or plated the hallmark inside the back cover will tell. If it say some like 20year or something along those lines, it's gold filled(plated)
How do I check the serial number on movement? Where is it? The number I referenced is the case.
You have to open the back of the case. It's either hinged like the front or else it unscrews.
Here's a link to help you figure it out: http://www.thewatchguy.com/pages/OPENCASE.html
I opened the case, and I understand the serial number on the case is not the same as the one on the movement. Is the movement serial number under the face? If so, how do I safely remove it?
Thanks Nathan, missed answering the last comment about referencing the #
The number should be on the back side, not under the dial. If you can take a photo of the movement it's possible Nathan or I can tell you the location of the #
The serial number in the case is noted as follows:
B (a picture of a crown) II
Warranted
412356
Still trying to release face (I see silver release notch)
Sharon, You don't need to remove the dial... Just open the back of the case and the serial number will be on the movement there. Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.kalmarantiques.com.au/14ct-gold-antique-elgin-pocket-watch-n643.aspx
