A little activity to take the edge off is seen in the first photo. Then there is a trooper upon his mount, and the third depicts a Dad teaching his Child the fine art of bugling. Dad is wearing a Fort Wright baseball cap, could it be that he liked playing ball better than soldiering? The last photo is an overview of perhaps training at FGW. The horses and mules still are prominent in this photo, but with the motorized vehicles on the horizon, the Army looks to be rapidly mechanizing.
It's very interesting to see the transition taking place in the last photo. That transition must have stirred up some debate & contention in camp.
Thanks for the love, walksoftly. And also for your insightful comment. I am sure that mechanization did cause much consternation among the ranks. But old ideas sometimes never lose their validity as today's US Army admits that horses and mules would be more effective than motorized vehicles in their wars in the Middle East. Realizing this, the US forces have tried unsuccessfully to resurrect the "horse soldiers", as contemporary recruits lacked the skills to work with the animals, and also the time to learn these principles.
Good morning, vetraio50...thanks for the love...

Thanks, walksoftly, the robots look like a realy ambitious project!
It is an amazing piece of engineering, & kind of unsettling to watch when it runs on it's battery pack all you here is the clicking of it's joints.
I imagine a horse would be cheaper!
Yes, walksoftly, your comments are all valid!
And though the horse needs feed and water himself, in case of dire emergency, he could become nourishment for his handlers and for other soldiers.
Thank you, phil!
Thank you, Manikin.....
