Could this be a Bauer or just California pottery? Who knows?

My grandmother bought this for me as a wedding gift for something old since I collect pottery. We were at an antique shop in Burbank, CA and found this. The owner of the shop told me that was from an estate locally and was a real wedding gift. The box was not there but this has never been used. I had asked the Bauer Guy and he was stumped. I believe it's around the 40's. If anyone has any clue, I'd really appreciate any input answers or feedback.
