I got this table at an estate auction about 15 years ago. The estate was of a family who had an antiques restoring and sales business for many years; the auction sales were held on weekends at the residence for two month or so. I seem to recall when I put this together years ago that there was a plate somewhere with Chicago on it and there is a script signature that appears to say sample. The top measures 54" diameter and at one time must have had several panels to allow it to expand to probably 8 feet longer or more. The pedestal actually splits to allow the table to expand. I really have no idea of the actual age or anything; just know that I like it and enjoy it. Seeing toracat's table recently got me to thinking someone might know something about the origins of this one.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Received additional info that the table is 1890s 'Chicago School' style. The acanthus leaf carvings are consistent with claw foot tables of this era.
Very nice table too bad you didn't have the table leaves to go with it.
thanks nidionne :)

thanks walksfoftly :) would be nice to have panels for those large family gatherings but it works fine like it is for the most part

Beautiful TC! Can you take a pic of underneath the table? Lots of clues there.
thanks AmberRose, did you see the pic of the underside in the collage (3rd image). Is there another shot that you think might help?
I found that I had taken a shot of the bottom of the pedestal and have added it

These photos are packed full of eye candy from the top ledge, pans, beautiful cake stand, down to the gorgeous table.
I have no idea, but I know I want 2 of these. 1 for each side of the room! Love it!
Thanks Aimathena, just a small part of my cake stand collection.
Thanks tom61375 :) picked the table up at auction about 15 years ago.
thanks for the love Debbie... and any others I may have missed : )
Beautiful detail carving on this table!! I suspect the table I have is that old also. My table belonged to my late grandparents who were born in the early 1900's. Grandmother had many pieces of furniture that belonged to her mother, and I suspect the table came from her. In the 80's when I inherited it I refinished it to original, but like your's the leaves were missing. I had a elderly man make me two leaves. My father said they lost the original ones in a wagon move. The feet to mine I have never seen on any table yet but your's. They are like lion paws.
