In order to help identify your clock, please provide the following:
Any and all information printed, stamped or labeled on the dial, movement, case, pendulum and key. This includes names, trademarks, serial/model/patent numbers and dates.
Do you know how often does it need to be re-wound? Once a day, week or month?
Measurements of the dial and case. Please take measurements at the longest, widest, and deepest points only.
Well lit photos of the entire case, with close-ups of the dial, movement and any distinctive decorative feature(s) or labels.
This information will be very helpful, but it still may not lead to a definitive model or date
thanks would not have a clue. when I have time I will look more closely at it thanks for the advice they are dusty what can I clean them with or shall I leave them thanks
Cleaning? Don't touch the dial. It's either paper or paint and all you'll end up doing is damaging it further. It doesn't look like you need to do anything with the brass either. I would use Murphy Oil Soap to remove any dust, dirt, film and residual wax, then I would either apply a furniture paste wax, or Lemon Oil and Bee's wax. Try to stay away from newer funiture polishes like Pledge. For routine dusting and maintenance between waxing, just a very lightly dampened soft cloth to gently remove the dust is all that should be needed. If you need to get into deeply carved areas a soft dusting brush or clean make-up brush works well.
