japan printed on a bumpy bottum. flowery design on sides,top. vilvet inside lining. oblong, roundy square shape. the middle sicks out further than lid. its smaller than my palm. dont no year or history. it was my nanas.
I believe this was what they called a Victorian Jewelry Casket. They are usually made of brass or pot metal. They are very collectable and nice...especially if the velvet interior is intact and original. Hope this helps...
