I have collected trench art for over 20 years. I have tried to focus on the unusual.

Aircraft were a popular subject in WW2 era trench art. Most common is the P-38, of which I have numerous posted here on CW.

This is a B-17 Flying Fortress.

This was probably intended as a desk item or paperweight. The plane sits atop a 40mm shell casing and .50 cal shell casing. The bomber is constructed of bullets and casings and the wings are made out of shell brass.

Over 12,000 of these were made prior to and for WW2 use.

Reproduction of these images in any form is prohibited.

Very nice, Scott I haven't found much Trench Art, Either I'm not looking in the right places, or I'm not looking hard enough. By the way, I finally got my WW II pins posted. Stop over and see them if you get a chance!

Thanks upstate-- I saw one posting and will look for the others.

I used to regularly see trench art in most antique shops and flea markets (20 years ago), now I rarely see it. I have been buying for a long time. If you like these planes, take a look at my other postings-- I probably 20- 30 trench art planes (WW1- Korean War era) on this site.
