This was the first radio I owned. I used it up until about 1956, when I got a "real" radio with a speaker. The detector was one my grandfather contributed to my cause. Somewhere, I have a pair of Brandeis "cans" that complete the receiver. I have since replaced the detector with a 1N34 soldered into the circuit, and relegated the "cat's whisker" to the museum. About ten years ago, I was messing with it, just to see what I could receive, and the galena crysal was just too much hassle. LOL
