I have always wanted a metal Detector because we have a lot of land and there are many different old house places on it. I finally broke down and bought on and on my first real hunt i find this 1929 Registered Chauffeur Badge. I would love to put a name with it but have come up empty handed. I have called the DMV, State Police and Local Library. Any suggestions on how i can put a name with this Badge?

      Neat find!

Good luck with finding a name-- maybe the state Dept of Revenue or Taxes will have records.

Also the state archives may be able to help (may even have the records).

It depends on the state. I have run into archivist who really try and help-- others who just say "NO". I haven't had any dealings with the LA folks.

Here is a link with phone numbers:

I'd ask to speak with an archivist. Some states have online request forms, but I don't see anything here.

GREAT-- emails have worked very well for me in the past. Don't be alarmed if it takes a while (depends on the state again). In MOST instances, I get a response within a day or two, but sometimes it takes a couple of weeks.
