What is the? Yes, I know, it's a sword, but from where? Age? found in my uncles estate cleanup. Blade is potentially wood or bone. Really hard to tell.
Somebody point me in the right direction.

Not very old I'm afraid. I didn't look any further than the brass plated tacks that have been common for a number of yrs..

I agree. It, along with the case appear to be old, but not really old. Say 1940's? I know it has not been touched in decades as it was buried under a ton of crap. I'd just like top know where, or what culture its from.

Those tacks have been used for some time to imitate hand forged brass tacks & the way they are advertised & labeled are hard to identify as real brass or plated. These are easy to spot. Doubt before '70. I'm no expert, but have had experience with buying brass as opposed to plated tacks.

Hello, the sheath of the sword is an actual Swordfish bill. Could be an antique reproduction, or possibly made some where in one of the Pacific islands countries. I saw one similar in the Philippines that was used as an instrument of punishment in the city jail. An old saying, "Catch a thief cut off their hand, Catch a pervert cut out their eyes, Catch a rapist cut off their penis, Catch a murderer dispatch their life,......etc." Some 3rd word countries still use the sword of Justice. Fine specimen you got! Love it!

In my life, I've become accustomed to those methods. Often wish I hadn't been! It's not as effective a deterrent as it should be though.
