WN Carved Green Elephant

I found this for a dollar at my local hospitals thrift shop, obviously could not turn that down. Can't really tell exactly what he's made of, he was carved, I'm assuming, by someone with the initials W & N, each letter is carved into his front legs. Nicely carved little guy, a I think the first picture represents his colour best. Wondering if anyone else has seen carvings with those initials, or any guesses as to the stone he is carved out of? I've read green elephants are popular in feng shui, and are carved out of a lot of different green stones. This one is quite smooth and shiny, a bit translucent, down to a millimeter or so, and has mostly whiteish streaks through him, but one or two really thin dark streaks.
