This shape (and variations thereof) of utilitarian tableware is found in Legras & Cie catalogues from the late 1800s (see last photo), and the combination of blue and amber glass is a Legras marker, as well. Fire polished rim, ground and polished pontil beneath the applied amber glass base. The swirl pattern in the glass is also found in other Legras colors and shapes. This pitcher holds just over a liter, so it is currently in my refrigerator - a 19th century carafe holding 21st century mango green tea.

referred to in France as George Sand glass. Not sure what the connection to the French author is.

      Beautiful glass!

I don't see the same shape in the illustration from the catalog.

Some noted differences to my eye-- your swirl piece has an almost heart shape to the body, while the illustration's body appears round; on your piece the top of the handle does not extend above the amber application, while the illustration shows an extension of the handle well above the neck application.
