This is an example of Fritz Heckert's fine enamel work from the early 1900's. The piece is signed on the bottom. The signature reads FH 56513.
The glass blank reminds me of Loetz Olympia. I am curious to know if Heckert used Loetz as a glass supplier.
We know Heckert bought glass from Loetz, Josephinenhuette and Harrach.
Thanks for the info. I only have a few pieces of this type of glass and I know very little about it.
Heckert did great work...love his pieces..

The fact that Heckert purchased glass blanks from other houses, mostly Josephinenhütte, is true, but only for a few years. Heckert went into business in 1866 and produced mainly mirrors for the incorporation into furniture. He also started offering glass vessels (blanks purchased from other glass houses and decorating them in his own shop). In 1872, Heckert purchased a brewery which he promptly converted into a glass refinery. Prior to that, and for a number of years, Heckert had been taking instruction from Franz Pohl Sr. on the technique of glass refining.
