Hello Friends! Here at last are the pictures I promised of my Loetz Orpheus vase, showing off every reactive photon that UV can produce. In other words "it glows"! How did you do this you ask. Well, it's a relatively old photography trick using a stopped down lens and a REALLY SLOW shutter speed (several seconds) and of course a very steady tripod. There is no digital enhancement here at all, just a little cropping, but the slow speed really makes the glow glow. This is how it really looks in a dark room with the blacklight up close (just out of the foreground). I am very happy with the results.

So if anyone out there wants me to take some stunning photos of their Uranium glass treasures please send them all to... (just kidding!:) But try this slow shutter-speed trick. It really works!

Oh, and my posthumous apologies to Tennessee Williams for the title of this post.

    Enjoy!

you are in Missoula! I've been there a few times. My grandmothers family was there for a long time. I think the remaining people that lived there died in the late 90's. but we went out there a few times for a week here or a week there. Pretty little town.

Thanks, I love the Rockies and Missoula has some great views right from town. If you're ever back in this way...
