This painting was pulled out of the attic. It looks "old" and the rear of the canvas appears the same way, having a dirty toasty brown canvas. (???)
The painting is unsigned (sigh), so I have no reference point to begin my journey in finding out what it is I have found.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, or assist in helping to identify the age/artist of this painting?
I think it's oil on canvas, and beleive it will need a good cleaning with some restoration involved. In one main area the paint has cracked in a weird circuliar design, yet it remains firmly intact with no rips or tears to the canvas.
Are there any folk art professionals out there?
Thanks.

My guess is that you will need to have this personally appraised by an art appraiser who specializes in this genre. Photos can never tell the whole story with a piece of art potentially this old. By the way, the frame doesn't look very old, in my limited experience I've never seen folk art framed with a light colored, contemporary frame. Maybe someone here can help you find someone to look at it. What state or country do you live?
