Has anyone seen these boxes before? I found it today for a few dollars. I can see a few others similar online. They are certainly not cheap, does anyone know about this? I think I will clean it up a bit and re-post.

Fabulous Deco detailing all the way down to the Formica decal. The company name goes back to 1912 and refers to a substitute 'for mica' not for ants.

I am not sure I understand, vetraio50, did the company make boxes like these? Or was Formica used to make the box? I did read about the company on wiki.

Very interesting that vetraio should bring up "ants". "Formica" in Latin means "ant", and I remember the Formica kitchen counter in one of my aunt's kitchen. The 'mica' particles abounded. I can see where someone might think the name "Formica" was perhaps evocative of ants. Like a swarm of ants at a picnic. Very attractive box! : )
