I have collected three of these beautiful leaf necklaces. I believe they were made in the fifties, but they could also be older.
The hand carved mother of pearl leaves all have a different shape and they have been applied to a some sort of ribbon or cord. The claps is original and it fits in nicely with the rest of the design.
It's a nice delicate necklace and it gets lots of attention when I wear it.
Mother of pearl isn't an expensive material. Its easy to carve and easy to find.
Over the years I collected lots of other mother of pearl jewelry. I will post some of them later.
So when do you think this necklace was made?
Sometime in the early sixties my aunty came back from overseas with gifts made of mother of pearl so from the date you gave I would say from around then. Very nice indeed.
Thanks a lot Zowie for your information. So that makes it more like '50-'60.
Thanks vetraio50 for loving my necklace
Thanks bratjdd, Moonstonelover and epson233 for the love
Hey valentino97 they could be from the Phillipines, Hawai, Israel...
I beleive this to be an early 1920's 30's miriam haskell piece. Her early pieces were unsigned until the 40's. Xxx
