An oil painting of the countryside near where Oliver Warman lives. What I like is that this is a modern painting and he is not only not afraid to put contrails in the sky, but positively makes them a part of the view.
We visited his house to buy this and he was a really nice guy. My wife was pleased no end and this was really her purchase, and she loves his work.
Oliver Warman was elected to the RBA in 1984 and the ROI in 1989. He studied Fine Art at Exeter University and Modern History with War Studies at Oxford.
For the first 30 years of his life he was a regular soldier, served all over the Middle East, and Northern Ireland and had a spell in the Arab Legion. For almost three years he was Military Assistant to the Prime Minister.
His work is in collections such as The Emir of Kuwait, The Sultan of Oman, some members of the Royal Family, The Crown Commissioners, The Crown Princess of Persia, Warbugs, all the clearing banks, The Co-Op, Shell UK etc.
He likes to paint the English and French landscape and in particular Devon and Cornwall. He will paint terriers but not labradors, he will paint a house and garden and farmyards and cattle - but not your wife or children.
He spends a lot of time in France, Italy and lecturing in the USA.
