This pair is a typical WW2 trench art item with added engraving that makes it a step above the typical pair.
The base is from a 40mm casing and the stem is constructed from two .50 cal rounds.
This pair has palm trees as the central feature along with a "diary" of locations served: "Hawaii, Samoa, Australia, New Guinea, Luzon".
The top is engraved with "Philippines 1944- 45".
The base is engraved with "Dear Mother from your son".
I have several sets of these, but this is the best engraved set.
These were constructed by US Navy shipboard shops as well as USN CBs.
Reproduction of these images in any form is prohibited.
