I found this large ceramic dish but can not find any information about the artist. It certainly is Finnish in style and has a lot of gold leaf! Any ideas or information much appreciated. Who is or was "A Paulin"?

I think that the dish itself was made by Arabia of Finland - there's a Arabia plate on Ebay right now marked "Paulin", altho' the signature's a little different. Is the upper part of the mark covered over, possibly with gold ink? It may be something that was done on an Arabia blank and sold thru another vendor, i.e., the art was added "aftermarket." The reseller (or the artist) would cover over the original maker's mark because it wasn't sold by Arabia in that form/decoration. "A. Paulin" might also have been an artist in-house for Arabia, but that wouldn't account for the covered-over mark (if indeed that's the case - hard to tell on the little pic.)

The mark on the back is pictured in the uploaded photo (bottom left with a blow up of the signature) - a gold leaf "hat" which could cover another mark. It is a large item and so much gold leaf! I have never seen any Arabia with so much gold embellishment!
