    Hi,

I have just purchased this Adlake Non Sweating Lamp, with Red front & rear glass, and oil / kerosene burner.

Looking for information…. where was it made? approx age?

I believe it is a No 55, and would probably originally be black?

    Many thanks.

Looks like an old Marker or Running Light. Could be Adlake, but hard to tell. I will try and do some research on the photo and get back to you.

It's definitely made by Adlake Non-Sweating Lamp. Have rubbed off some of the red paint on the front label under the glass…. "Lamp Manufacturing & Railway Supplies Ltd" Dorking England.

The Model, Serial & Patent No.s have all been scored off, except you can just make out the 55 in the model number. I would assume the serial number has been scored off as it was most likely unofficially removed from a train many years ago, and therefore rendered untraceable.

So it's made by Adlake (in the US???), a No. 55 model, imported into UK by LM&RS Ltd. Or made in UK by LM&RS Ltd under licence from Adlake.

      I'm thinking 1940/1950's??
