    Good morning fellow collectors,
I haven't posted anything for a while so I thought I would drop in and share what I believe to be an ashtray I recently purchased at my local thrift store for .25. Although I enjoy the pottery and glassware that is posted on here, I really do not have much of my own. I live not too far from Seagrove, N.C. so I have had opportunities to visit some of the shops in that area. I am an avid ashtray collector, and that was the first thing that caught my eye. After doing some research on this item, I discovered that it was made in the Hyalan pottery shop in Hickory, N.C. The first products were made in 1947 and the company continued into the 1990's before merging with another company that primarily made table lamps. I have not been able to date this, because so many items were made during these years and I have not found one similiar to this. Hope to get some feedback on this item. I hope everyone is doing well and it's good to be back. I have a back log of some items I hope to post in the next few days. Hope everyone has a great afternoon. Thrifty

Looking at the matte finish, I'm guessing late 1960's-70's

Thanks Mani for the comment and the love! You are right, it looks like some type of animal track. That was the first thing I thought of. Sorry for the delay in hollering back at ya, seems like I spend too much time working and not enough loafing lately. Have a great afternoon and weekend friend! TG

You are absolutely right! Here at my place of work, we have been downsizing people, but not the work. So when someone leaves, someone else in the department gets their job.....added to what we were already doing! It could be worse, I could be the one having to leave. I've been here 25 years, so I figure I get to lock the doors when I leave. I am trying to figure out what part of the cow that my ashtray looks like!! I cant picture in my mind yet. talk to you later. :) TG
