Rca Living Stereo records, are among the finest recordings ever made.
Rca made some of the first experimental recordings with stereo already in 1953, and released their first in 1958 LSC 1806 R.Strauss,Also sprach Zarathustra, with Reiner & CSO.
They are truly great records, and very collectable

    1 st record:
LSC 2150, Prokofieff Lieutenant Kije, Strawinsky Song of the nightingale,Frits Reiner & CSO
this recording is one of the most famous of all the Living stereo´s.
it gave the tecnicans at Rca big problems, when the mastertape had to be cut, the first many matixes where distorted, but in the end they made it, and how !
i think this the bestsounding record that i own, it blows you away when you hear it, and here is why.
first there is not any background noise (most recordings in the period 1958 - 1965 have more or less some background noise, being tape hiss, amplifier hum, wobbling sounds, and light crackling, all from the production proces.) the next is a very cleary defined room both in hight weith and depth, all instruments and the music stands with clearly defined clarity, warmth and yaw-dropping dynamics, it feels like you are present at the musical event, thats the kind of recording we all dream of, giving shear joy and pleasure when listning music in its purest form.

    2 nd record:
    LSC 2293, Piatigorsky & Lukas F oss, Strawinsky/Debussy
this is a very intimate recording that lets you get close to the artists, again it is clarity, warmth and dynamics and good music that is key in this record.

    3 rd record:
LSO 6006, Harry Belafonte at Carnegie Hall live recorded on the spot.
Here we have one of the most famous live recording ever, the sound is
stunningly live, you can hear Harry Belafonte move around on the stage, you can almost touch him, the musicians feels the same way when they perfom, the audience is close and alive, you hear the great voice of Belefonte, feel the weight and body of the performance, this is also a truly great Rca Living Stereo recording, a must have for any record & musicloving collector

    4 th record:
LSC 2267, Arthur Fiedler, Gaite Parisienne with the BPO
this one is not as famous as the LSC 1817, but it will give the same awestriking permormance, which is again clarity, warmth and dynamics and great music, buy it if you can not afford the LSC 1817

Your choice of RCA LSc 2150 is, in my oppinion right. The sound on this Lp is just fantastic. I have for many years also admired Fritz Reiner's ALSO SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA. The string sound is unforgetable.

It's been great seeing your collection come up over the past several days. I think most collectors think of classic rock before classical when it comes to vinyl, so I'm especially fascinated by your records---both by your descriptions of their excellent music and their very intriguing cover art. Thanks for posting!!

When I like some excitement and marvel , I put on ROYAL BALLET GALA PERFORMANCES by Ansermet, RCA SORIA LDS 6095. This one has both music and sound. They do not come any better than this one. Even re-issues are just as wonderful. The cover art on this record reminds me of a period when music was regarded as art.

      hi Stephen
i have the reissue from classic records with LDS 6095, and you are right it is very good, especially La Boutique Fantastique, it blowns you away with clarity ,pace and jaw-dropping dynamics, i also got LSC 2225, Witches Brew on classic records.
the originals are way to expensive for me to buy

I first bought my copy of lsc-2150 overseas, a Teldec.... a great recording is just that...a great recording, on any label. Differences in pressings (if any) to my mind, are totally subtractive... In other words, I have never heard any added distortion, dissonance or noise etc. introduced into a reissue... At the same time picked up vcs-2659 (I think, Pictures/Mussorgsky) also a Teldec - Fantastic!
