    My mother owned one of these and never let me touch it. That was over 40 years ago. So when I saw this one I fellt I had to have it . I vaugley recall my mother saying they were from China. She felt they were valuable but this might not be the same exact one.

      Your doll is Japanese , these wonderful dolls are made of gofun, the white coating on her face is gofun which is crushe d oyster shells or another type of shell . She dates from anywhere from 1940-50's . Beautiful doll !Here is a similar one to yours
