Here's a large and very nice cast-stone bulldog i picked up the other day. i'm very tempted to paint him again as he's lost most of his paint over the years. How old do you think he is? Should i repaint him w/ some airbrush tools?
Hmmm? Never seen a Bulldog with a tail??
hmmm.... that's how they are naturally. the little stub is what happens when they are chopped, i think. this is an old one - not sure how old, but he's got quite a bit of age and he's in great condition.
I have two Bulldogs. They have a very small tail that is corkscrewed. They are not cut or docked like a Doberman, but born this way.
interesting. i guess i don't have an answer to that question then. i don't know why he has a longer tail than other boxers. maybe they used to be that way?
i did a little bit of research and from what i found, boxers do get their tails chopped when they are very young. some people say that there are good reasons for this, but i really don't know. i would like to find out when they began this tradition. i think it may help me date this statue which i think is quite old. it's also a lot larger than it looks like in these pics. i'll get some measurements and photos with a ruler or something.
Bulldogs and Boxers are two entirely different breeds. Google Bulldog tails and you will see my point.
i'm finding the same info for bulldogs - that they are born w/ tails - sometimes short and sometimes long. sorry for confusing boxer/bulldog though. they do look pretty similar in the face.
