My friend's wife owns this tin. It has been passed down from her great grandmother to her. She always used it for a decoration piece in their kitchen. I've seen the round Grennan's tin all over the place, but have never seen this one.
Being a research hound, I did some digging and found that The Metal Package Co. was founded by Al Bruns in 1912. He was supposedly one of the best lithographers during that time. At the end of the 'teens, The Metal Package Co. (Brooklyn, NY), Boyle Can Company (Baltimore) and Shallita Brothers (New York) formed the National Can Corporation. (read this info on slahs.org). This led me to "assume" that the tin was made between 1912-1920.
I first thought it was just a neat looking tin. I then saw the stamp on the bottom and decided to research it and came up with the info above.
Also found a post on a forum from a Christina Grennan. (from 2006) Seems her husband's grandfather and great uncle owned the bakery until 1960's.
Would like to find out if I'm close on the dating of this tin and if anyone has info on Grennan's!
