This is an antique Victorian turquoise and seed pearl
festoon necklace. It was one of my very first purchases
and I paid $35 for it which included the shipping. I have
never decided if these pieces are Hungarian, American,
some say Chinese. Typically they are all marked "sterling."
I have older pieces like this ranging to enameled Art
Deco pieces, all with the same chain and style. The stones
are always fabulous.
Wow!!!! What a great find....this is a stumper...but I would go on the side of Hungarian with all those cannetille handiwork ..lovely and stunning :))
Do you think they would mark with the word "sterling" though. That is
what is confusing to me.
Can I see the back of the necklace. Hungarian jewelry has often special decorated back on their jewelry.
I just put a photo of the back for you. The backs are always
plain like this one, wire for the seed pearls, and sometimes
marked with "stelring"
In my opinion this necklace is not antique Hungarian. Only a silver mark let me think of Chinese
Yes, I am more inclined to think Chinese than Hungarian too. Thanks.
