This Pennanular pin brooch was made from a Moroccan coin dated 1903 (you see on this pin the year 1321; the year of the Islamic calendar) I bought this on a trip to this country in 1966.
It is Sterling silver and probably made by a craftsman of one of the original inhabitants of Morocco named Berbers. These people are known for their silver jewelry.
A Penannular pin brooch is a type or brooch in the form of a circle penannular to which is attached a pin. The head of the pin is looped around the circle so that the pin can slide along the circle. When the pin is pushed through a fabricated twice, the circle is rotated so that one terminal is pushed under the exposed end of the pin and the pressure of the fabric holds the pin in place. Today these beautiful jewelry as a pendant to wear.
Such brooches were originated by the Celts in the Iron Age in Britain and were developed by them during the Christian period. Similar brooches were also later made in Anglo-Saxon Jewelry but as to see here also in the Arabic world.

PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, you are right, I have something with beetles I suppose. See my Micro mosaic beetles. But this pendant is one of my elderly jewelery exactly from 1966. The MM beetles comes later.
