    This item is silver in color. It breaks down with four compartments. One of the compartments has a lid. It has a residue that looks like possible ashes.
    It is about 10" tall. It has a lot of decoration. As an art student, I found this very interesting. What could it be?

      That is what I am thinking. Do you have any real knowledge about this? I am really not sure it is Asian...just an uneducated guess.

      I believe they are called a Tiffin box food carrier, from India I believe.

      Hi, Asia is a broad area that includes India. Stylistically, yes it is Asian. And in a functional form, it is still used to this day, called tingkat, or tiffin.
