Pedro Pujol was a silver/coppersmith in Greenwich Village in the 1940's - 1950's. He worked with Francisco Rebajes. "According to Armand Winfield, Pujol and Rebajes would have daily fights in the street over who copied whose designs (which was good for business, because of the attention it gathered). It is rarer to find pieces by Pujol than Rebajes since, as far as I know, he never went into serious production. Some say he was Rebajes brother, but I do not have proof of this." (Information provided by Marbeth Schon)

IT'S OF A STYLIZED WOMAN. THE EYES ,NOSE, AND MOUTH , IN POLISHED COPPER, ARE RAISED AWAY FROM THE FACE TO GIVE IT A VERY "3 D" FEEL. THE METAL IS HAMMERED ALUMINUM, AN UNUSUAL METAL FOR PUJOL TO USE- HE MAINLY USED COPPER AND SILVER.

BECAUSE PUJOLS PRODUCTION WAS CONSIDERABLY SMALL-ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO HIS SOMETIME FRIEND REBAJES- WE CONSIDER THIS WALL PLAQUE TO BE RARE. OF THE PUJOL PIECES WE'VE SEEN, THIS IS BY FAR THE LARGEST, AND MOST INTRICATE,AND FINELY EXECUTED PIECES WE'VE COME ACROSS. ITS ALSO THE ONLY WALL PLAQUE WE KNOW OF.

ITS IN SENSATIONAL CONDITION, WITH LITTLE TO NO SURFACE WEAR, NO BENDS,CRIMPS,PINGS,GOUGES.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO TARNISH ON ANY OF THE COPPER PORTIONS- CAMERA ANGLE, AND BACKGROUND REFLECTIONS ARE WHAT YOU ARE SEEING THAT MIMIC TARNISH.

    SIZE: 14 1/2"T X 10 1/4"W. SCRIPT SIGNED PEDRO PUJOL AS SHOWN.
