Murray Tot Rod, third generation called a Fireball Racer or Thunder Bolt Racer from the 1960s.
I have been restoring pedal cars for a while and then donating them to Charities to help in fund raising auctions. This is the first Tot Rod I found.
Welcome to CW, I hope you will share some of your finished cars with us.
I have a tot rod in yellow. My dad bought it for me in 1964 and I still have it. It needs a complete restoration. Any ideas where I can get parts? Thank you!
Darren
Hi vgoat,
What parts to you need. I currently have two tot rods I might restore. If I could provide parts I would be have to. I am not sure if this is how I am to respond to your question.
Any pedal car question can be submitted to richdog@frontier.com
Hi Pedalguy I saw your photo of the tot rod. I am planning on restoring mine that my parents bought me when I was two for my own son who is one. So I have a year to get it ready. My question is: if you have any spare parts such as a front bumper? Even one I could borrow The one on mine rotted away in storage. I was thinking of having some reproductions made out of plastic or aluminum if I had a good one for a mold. Thanks for any info
Hi Jvonwhit,
I no longer have any tot rod parts or the one pictures hanging in my garage. I have been contacted by other looking for parts. I took some off the tot rod and finally gave away the remaining body. I am still interested in pedal cars and occasionally do a tribute car for fund raising events. I still browse EBay and have seen recently tot rods with good prices. You might find a great donor car. Also try searching EBay for the specific part you want. Finally you might do an web search. Over the years I found E stores that had parts. They did seem to come and go. Speedway Motors had lots of parts at one time. It is basically a speed shop but had pedal stuff listed under "Apparel and Gifts" I hope this helps. feel to email me at richdog@frontier.com for faster answers and some other links.
Kind regards,
Rich
