Trying to find any information on this large 22"x 18" framed Lithograph/Print Copyrighted by MORRIS & BENDIEN INC. N.Y. It depicts a lovely, elegant Red-Haired Girl in a flowing Satin Gown reclining on a pillow with her White Afghan-Hound beside her. The name of the Print/Lithograph is "The Coquette" and is signed CERVENKA on the lower right. The black frame is original to the print and I suspect it dates 1920-30's. Anyone know who the artist "Cervenka" was or anything about Morris & Bendien? Thanks everyone! RER (LOUMANAL)
Morris and Bendien N.Y. in 1900-1940 brought out affordable prints that copied many popular styles of original artists. The Louis Icart style was one of them they copied and used different artists that painted the litho with a small variation of Icarts work so it would not be exact copy . That is all I can tell you . It is a beautiful print !
Thank you Manikin for this info. I truly appreciate it and thank you mustangtony, moonstonelover21, PhilDavidAlexanderMorris and AmberRose for the Love! Sorry about all the shadows in my photos....the print is actually in Pristine/Unstained condition! RER (BOB) PS: Phil, are you related to the MORRIS in Morris and Bendien?
Thank you vetraio50 for the Love. RER (BOB)
Her name is Barbara Cervenka and she is an artist as well as a Dominican nun!
Thank you Buffus! This is the first information on this artist. I imagine that she is no longer alive. Do you have an idea when she would have made this print? We still have it at our home.
