one of my favorite Axe heads...
I dont know the history behind it but im thinking it is an old sales sample, or decorative piece from way back when. The maker is Pettibone ,the Metal head is not magnetic, it is hollow with two cast metal pieces welded together...
The handle is Long Black and octagon shaped and the head fits on with two flat head screws.
I have a huge collection of axes but ive never come accross something like this...

I think these were wall hangers or possibly even used for firefighting, Pettibone axes where made in Cincinatti, Ohio from what i found doing a little research

thanks poop Im still trying to research this and not comin up with much so far.
I'm hoping it is a sample of some sort which would most likely bring the value up.
If it was an actual solid useable axe I would tend to think that it would be used in old time firefighting.

      Non-magnetic means stainless steel.

I think I seen one of these at the Allentown Fire Memorabilia Swap Meet a couple of weeks ago. I asked the guy carrying it what it was and he told me "Irish Forcible Entry Tool"???
    6. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 12 years ago
Always thought the Irish used explosives for entry?

Great piece! I have a poster that closely matches this type of blade. See my decapitation poster: "Benevol".
