This is a piece I have had since I was a teenager. The next door neighbor gave it to me - told me to pick anything I wanted from this enormous heap of costume jewelry, alot of it looked ornate and Victorian. I zoned in on this one immediately as it had great colour and caught the light beautifully. It's a little more than choker length and looks very swank when worn. I'm pretty sure it is paste, although I have not done anything like put it under the microscope to look for inclusions or anything like that. The big central stone is baguette cut and the others are oval to round, multifaceted "gems". I love it even though it is not a real gem!

It looks like a brass and glass necklace made in Czechoslovakia around 1930.
I have some loose glass beads exactly like the once in your necklace. They are the same colour, as well as green. They come from a small company producing decorative items during the early 1900's. My guess is that the place closed before WWII. It is/was located in a town called Baerenstein, a stone-throw away from the border with Czechoslovakia :)
