These are WWII books about what was happening during WWII, but still published whilst the war was running. This these books are telling you "facts" about the war, however, there are elements of unvarnished propaganda in them. I really love the dust jackets on these, Alternative to Death has a real art quality to it, whilst the others are more lurid and graphical. They are all pretty heavy reading, but put a different world perspective to you as seen during the war. The New Europe is particularly interesting as published in 1944, it maps out a future of Europe that never happened. One good quote in it is: "It has been well said that we shall know whether we have won the war by what happens to Poland." By that measure WWII was not won for another 45 years.
These books all have the BOOK PRODUCTION WAR ECONOMY STANDARD logo in them and the paper is either really thin or really pulpy with bits in.
I get these from the same place as I bought the last lot I showed, for a £1 each. I bought a load, and would have bought a load more, only my wife was starting to get a slightly horrified look on her face.
Gerard Wallop is a pretty left field character. Born in Chicago but became an English Lord. English Mistery and Array are new groups to me! The Isaac Newton papers sold off at Sotheby's too!
