You will not find many Canadian Glass items with Canadian registration information impressed in the glass but here is a completely clear Glass Spittoon that was registered in 1928 by the UNIC-MEDICO-CHEMICAL Company of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The actual date of registration was 1928-06-09 and the details are contained in this link http://www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/app/opic-cipo/id/dsgnDtls.do?appNm=7962&lang=eng&status=OK
I suppose that these Glass Spittoons were meant to be distributed to Canadian Hospitals but glass with patients in hospitals, was probably not a good idea. It was also quite heavy. My example appears to have never been used. RER (LOUMANAL)
I posted a ladies spittoon the other day. I did not know they made them for each sex. Yours is very beautiful.
So ladies' Spittoons were small and dainty and mens' were bigger and plain......I wonder if this was the case in Hospital settings. Back in the pre-Vaccine and antibiotics days, people were spitting and dying of TB and other respiratory diseases daily. Can you imagine the number of infections that developed simply by washing out these Spittoons. Thanks nldionne for your love and input and officialfuel for the Love. RER (BOB)
Never saw another one anywhere. BOB
