Hi, I'm not really sure how to label my item, but I have come across a rather old typewriter. It is marked as a 'Smith Premier - Model 5'. It also carries markings of it being a 'British Empire Product' and 'Made in Canada'. Would anyone be able to tell me more about this typewriter? It carries the Serial number CB.12030. I have been unable to find any information on this serial. The closest serial I could match, referenced machines of 1908. However, the guarantee slip that accompanies the carry-case contradicts this, showing a date of 1939. The guarantee slip also shows the Name, Rank, Division and Address of a serviceman, though I'm unable to spot what form of serviceman.
I've only been able to find info on the models 1, 2, 4 and 10. Also have managed to find many machines marked Smith-Corona, but there's no mention of Corona on my machine.
Please get in touch and let me know if you know anything about this item. I'd love to know more about it, but know nothing about the typewriter world.
Thank you for taking time to read my message, hopefully I will hear from you soon.
Thank you,
Anthony White
