Here is a wine bottle bearing seal "S Colton 1767" in three lines. "Merchant" Samuel Colton lived in Longmeadow MA, and was the richest man in town at that time. He owned three schooners, and was involved in trade with England and the West Indies. (The so-called "three corner", or "triangular" trade.) My great-great-great-great grandfather married Samuel Colton's daughter, Margaret. We have four of these bottles in the family; one of them is damaged.
Nice bottles and great family history. I live in New England, and collect early bottles. Being that Samuel was involved in trade, it is difficult to say whether the bottles were produced in England or here in the colonies. I am quite sure that these have quite a bit of sentimental value to you, but if they ever become "available", please feel free to contact me, earlyglass@gmail.com . Mike
