    I have always loved these and was looking for something to store some bits in and came across this, I only paid £20 for it and thought id have a go at doing it up a bit, but thought I would try and get a little information on it first in case i ruin it! should I remove the canvas? would be lovely to know a little more information as im new to the trunk/chest world many thanks

      You should have no problem removing the canvas -- you will discover a nice pine base underneath to refinish. It will not change the value much and for some it is more desirable refinished. Looks to be about a late 1890's to early 1900's dome top trunk. Good luck with the project...
