This is, once more, one of those items from my childhood that were designed by André Ricard. It was such a surprise when I found out it was one of his designs!
It's extremely nice to handle due to the ball shape on top, the narrowing shape and the rought texture... very important because when these bottles were full of juice, it was really heavy and even more for a kid. Nowadays juice bottles are seldom made of glass, but at the time it was the usual thing, so Ricard came out with the perfect shape and texture.
By the way, Fruco was one of the top juice companies in the 60s/70s. There were others (Vida was probably its stronger competitor) but none of them are remembered now... It still exists today, although inside of one of those multinational food companies.
It took me a long time to get this bottle... first of all I found the bottle without the lid, then i got a lid that hapended to be much bigger (this is the smaller of two sizes) and then finally I got the right lid... I cannot say the bottle was cheap, but I think it's worth it every cent I paid for it because from the thousands of these bottles that were made during the 25 years it was in use, very few must remain now. Now I must find the big one!
Thanks Bellin! And thanks mustang and manikin for the loves :)
