This large 8 1/2" tall Pottery Pitcher has transfer prints of "Vulcan & Chares receiving Thetis" and is based on a pen & ink from Homer's Iliad created by John Flaxman. JOHN FLAXMAN was a Sculptor & Illustrator and was the leading artist of the neoclassical style, at the time, in England. He was born in 1755 and died in 1826. He studied in Italy and Greece and designed much of Wedgwood's Neoclassical Pottery. He was also commissioned to design and create many famous Sculptures.
This Pitcher simply has a banner with FLAXMAN underneath and was probably made by a contemporary company of Wedgwood in the early 1800's. If anyone can identify the manufacturer, I would appreciate the information. Thanks everyone! RER (LOUMANAL)

Are those the initials "IS" on the base rim or the number 15?
