Susie Cly Yazzie was known as a well know master rug maker. I purchased this rug from a woman who was at least 80 years of age. She had traveled all over the world and collected many unusual items. I purchased a plate feom her that turned out to be from the 1700's.
This rug has the origunal purchase tag from 1971 and it is from the same region as Susie Cly Yazzie and has the name Sussie Cly with a purchase price.
I did a search and found that Susie Cly Yazzie was a master rug maker who maintained a traditional Navajo lifestyle. She was in numerous John Wayne/John Ford movies. She was also considered a true beauty and the most photographed Navajo woman, photographed by numerous famous photograpers. She passed away at age 90 this year.
Does anyone know with certainty that this is the same Sussie Cly?
Damn, that's a heck of a rug
Its called a yei rug, those are corn maidens
I dont know much about Native American art but I agree it does seem like a nice art work.

I think you mean "Susie" rather than "Sussie." At first I thought it was a typo, but then you used "Sussie" 5 more times. The weaver was Susie Cly Yazzie. I don't know who Sussie may be.
The tag says "Susie."
